When you got your first tattoo, you may feel your ink a bit slimy and slippery and there may even be some oozing plasma. You have to remove the residue on your tattoo quickly or it will create scabs if the plasma dries on the skin surface.

Here are some new tattoo care tips for you. After you've been inked, you have to pat the area with a clean towel or with paper towel to dry it completely. Be careful not to rub on the area too hard. It is best to apply some ointment on the wound. The ointment which is enriched with A&D is a good choice.

If possible, avoid using Neosporin on your new tattoo. Neosporin is a wonderful cure for any cuts and scrapes but not for tattoos. Some people may even have an allergy reaction when using Neosporin. It can cause red bumps on the wound and after the red bumps go away, you will have a polka dotted tattoo.

If you are looking for a good tattoo ointment, use products which are specially created for body ink such as Tattoo Goo or h2ocean. It is best to use the product for a period of 3 to 5 days continuously. Alternatively, you can also use any lotion to keep your skin soft. Whatever lotion you use, it should be dye and fragrance free. Most of the tattoo artists will recommend Lubriderm.

When it is time to get your tattoo wet, start by running a cool stream or water over it. Submerging your new tattoo in a hot tub may sometime cause serious damage. You should avoid swimming for at least 2 weeks. After a couple of days, you should feel the scabs peeling. If you should see excessive scabbing, that is a sign your tattoo was poorly done. But if you feel a little scabbing, then it is normal.

If you feel itchy, do not pick or scratch on your new tattoo. If it is scabbing, let it be because it is almost healed. After your tattoo is healed, you have to protect it from the sun's rays. Excessive sun exposure will make your tattoo becomes fade and lifeless. To keep it sharp and vibrant, use a minimum of SPF50 sunscreen.
